dosepal1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of the dosepal mobile app (the "App"), developed and maintained by Joseph Rey Amper Tolentino, a software engineer ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of the Service
dosepal is a low-friction reminder and tracking app for medications, vitamins, supplements, and pet medications. In the current version, you can:
- Add medications, vitamins, and supplements, along with reminder times you choose
- Receive reminder notifications on your device
- Log doses as Taken, Not taken, or Not sure, and undo those entries
- View doses on Today and Calendar screens
- Track an optional supply count
- Add pets and link reminders to them
- Type or paste label text so the App can suggest an item name for you to review
- Export a text history of your dose records
The App is a reminder, organization, and tracking tool. It works on your device without an account.
3. Medical Disclaimer
dosepal is not a medical provider or medical device, and it does not provide medical advice. The App:
- Does not diagnose any medical condition
- Does not prescribe, recommend, or adjust any medication, vitamin, or supplement
- Does not decide whether a medication, vitamin, or supplement is safe or appropriate for you
- Does not check for drug interactions, allergies, or side effects
- Does not tell you what to do after a missed, late, or extra dose
- Does not replace the advice of a doctor, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional
Reminder times in the App are the times you choose. They do not override instructions from your doctor, pharmacist, medication label, or other qualified professional. If you have questions about a medication or treatment, contact a qualified healthcare professional. In a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services right away.
4. Veterinary Disclaimer
The pet features in dosepal are for organizing and reminding only. The App does not provide veterinary advice, diagnose animal health conditions, or decide whether a medication or dose is appropriate for an animal. Always follow your veterinarian's instructions. If you have questions about your pet's medication or health, contact a veterinarian.
5. Medication Information and Accuracy
You are responsible for the information you enter, including item names, schedules, and supply counts. Please check that this information matches your prescription, product label, and the instructions you received from a professional.
Label scanning. The Scan label feature reads text you type or paste and suggests details using automated rules. These suggestions may be incomplete or wrong. Fields the App is unsure about are marked for checking. Always review suggested information against the actual label before you rely on it. The App does not create a schedule from a label. You choose the reminder times.
6. Reminders and Notifications
dosepal tries to deliver reminders at the times you set, but we cannot guarantee that every reminder will appear, or that it will appear exactly on time. Reminders may be delayed, grouped, hidden, or not delivered because of factors outside the App's control, including:
- Notification permission being off, or notification settings for the App
- Exact-alarm settings, Do Not Disturb, or focus modes
- Battery saver or battery optimization settings
- Operating-system restrictions or updates
- Force-closing the App, restarting the device, or a long time without opening the App
- A device that is off, out of battery, damaged, or lost
- Software errors
The App schedules a limited number of upcoming reminders at a time and refreshes them when you open it. Opening the App regularly helps keep reminders up to date.
Do not rely on dosepal as your only safeguard for time-critical medications. If missing or delaying a dose could cause serious harm, use additional safeguards and follow your healthcare professional's guidance.
7. Family Medication Management
You may choose to keep reminders for another person, such as a child or an older relative. If you do:
- You are responsible for having the appropriate right or authority to manage that person's information and reminders.
- A status you log, such as "Taken," is only your own record. The App does not confirm that the other person actually took a dose.
- Using the App does not create a professional caregiving relationship. It does not change anyone's existing responsibilities.
The Family Circle sharing feature is not available in the current version. If it becomes available, additional terms may apply.
8. Pet Medication Management
If you use the pet features, you are responsible for entering accurate information and following your veterinarian's instructions. A status you log for a pet is your own record. The App does not confirm that a pet received its medication.
9. User Responsibilities
When you use dosepal, you agree to:
- Enter and keep your information accurate and up to date
- Review your reminder schedules, and update them when your instructions change
- Follow the instructions of your healthcare professionals, veterinarians, and product labels
- Protect access to your device, for example with a screen lock, especially if it holds information about other people
- Keep your own copy of important records if you need one, because the App does not provide cloud backup
- Use the App only in compliance with applicable laws
10. Accounts
The current version of dosepal does not use accounts. No sign-in is required, and your information stays on your device. If accounts are offered in the future, additional terms will apply to them.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Enter information about another person without the appropriate right or authority
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease the App, except as allowed by law or by applicable open-source licenses
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the App's source code, except where the law allows it
- Interfere with or disrupt the App, or try to get around its security or technical limits
- Use the App in a way that could harm other people
12. Third-Party Services
The current version of the App does not include third-party online services. However:
- The app store you downloaded the App from has its own terms, which also apply to your use of the App.
- Your device's operating system controls notifications, alarms, and device backups.
- When you share an exported history, the app or service you choose has its own terms and privacy practices.
We are not responsible for third-party services, platforms, or apps.
13. Intellectual Property
The App and its original content belong to Joseph Rey Amper Tolentino or its licensors. This includes the software, design, interface, text, graphics, the dosepal name and logo, and the dosepal mascot characters. These materials are protected by intellectual property laws.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, under these Terms.
Some parts of the App, such as fonts and software libraries, are provided by third parties under their own licenses. Those licenses govern those parts. You keep ownership of the information you enter into the App.
14. Service Availability
We may change, update, add, or remove features of the App at any time. We may also stop offering the App. We do not promise that the App will always be available, work without interruption, or be free of errors.
Because your information is stored only on your device, it will not be lost if we stop offering the App. However, future versions of your device's operating system may stop supporting the App.
15. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not make any warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that reminders will always be delivered, that the App will be error-free, or that information in the App, including label suggestions, will be accurate.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. In those jurisdictions, some of the exclusions above may not apply to you.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Joseph Rey Amper Tolentino is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App or your inability to use it. This includes harm resulting from:
- A missed, late, or extra dose
- A reminder that was not delivered or was delivered late
- Inaccurate information entered by you or suggested by the App
- Loss of data stored on your device
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the App or [LIABILITY CAP AMOUNT].
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. This includes, where applicable, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your rights under consumer protection laws are not affected.
17. Termination
You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling removes your App data from your device, subject to any device backups.
We may end your license to use the App if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. When your license ends, you must stop using the App. Sections 3 through 5 and 13 through 19 continue to apply after termination.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the App changes. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. For significant changes, we may also give notice in the App or through the app store listing. If you continue to use the App after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the App.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING JURISDICTION], except where the laws of your place of residence give you protections that cannot be waived. Disputes will be handled in [DISPUTE VENUE / COURTS], unless applicable law requires otherwise.
